IT'S JUST TOO EXPENSIVE! Opinions on the British GP Ticket Prices
The British Grand Prix is important for a number of reasons. Sporting history, cultural history and the fact that 7 of the 10 teams on the grid have a base in the UK- So it's almost a display of the best of British engineering even if teams like Alpine, Mercedes and Red Bull aren't British-registered teams.
But recently, the boss of the circuit said that the sales of tickets this year are low because of Red Bull being too good, with lots of people pointing out the sheer cost of the tickets. Which is a mad thing to say, really.
So why are Silverstone's prices so high compared to the rest of the world? Why is it cheaper to go to Hungary or Spa for the price it costs to go to Silverstone? Let's have a look- And it's not just F1 but other live events too seem to be fleecing the public.
Enjoy! And remember to like and subscribe for more!

IT'S NOTHING TO DO WITH NATIONALITY! Opinions on the Recent Super License Rule Changes
Переглядів 18 тис.12 годин тому
The FIA recently changed the rules regarding its Super License, the racing license required to race in Formula One. Normally you have to be 18, but the FIA has now changed the rules to allow Kimi Antonelli, who will be 18 in just over two months, to race between now and the Dutch Grand Prix should Williams want to replace Logan Sargeant with him. Basically, it's like the barman in the pub who g...

Take a Lola that's a death trap, hand it over to one of the brightest minds and biggest names in car tuning culture, and you're on to a winner. A four time winner in fact, and a car that became an utter machine at one of the toughest races in the world. The GT40 started out as a revenge tour. A way of getting one over, a way of saying 'alright, watch this' and so on. And while it was started as...
AN UNFAIR BENCHMARK? The Story of Michael Andretti's DISASTROUS 1993 F1 Season
Переглядів 27 тис.День тому
Capitalised word means more clicks, right? Anyway- Michael Andretti is a man on a mission to get his team into Formula One. But it won't be his first time entering the sport. He'd done so 30 years ago when he signed for McLaren and was partnered with Ayrton Senna. Problem is: Formula One and Indycar could not have been further apart in those days. F1 cars, specifically the Williams and McLarens...
MORE THAN JUST A QUALI MERCHANT? Jarno Trulli: A Retrospective

Quick in qualifying, not so hot in the race. That's what everyone describes Trulli as but is it as clear cut than that? The guy was matching Alonso up until the 2004 French Grand Prix when he mysteriously fell off, and his ability to keep much faster traffic behind in his 'Trulli Trains' enabled him to score quite well. So what were his stats like? And was he just a hotlapper? Let's have a look...
REVERSE DRS FOR DIRTY AIR? Opinions on the FIA's Announced 2026 F1 Regulations
Переглядів 21 тис.14 днів тому
Turning up the wings for a reverse DRS sounds like some cheat code from a video game, doesn't it? But the FIA wants it in to help cars follow closely and then set up an overtake. But on paper it sounds a bit too easy. This along with other things means that the cars will be smaller, shorter, less reliant on ground effect and might be able to follow closer anyway. But it's all wait and see, isn'...

WAS IT MONACO OR NOT? Opinions on Esteban Ocon Leaving Alpine

Living in the middle of the U.S. I could have a ten day vacation in Washington DC at a nice hotel within walking distance of all the museums, monuments etc. Have nice meals daily as I could spend going to COTA staying at a budget motel 20 miles from the track eating food at the Track for the weekend. About $5K . The price for the former is about the same if you bring a friend. The price for the race is per person.

As huge Motorsport fan I still don't understand why even should I attend at track? I don't want to, or need to socialise. What I want is to watch races, in full length. And I can't do that even at small american short track, as I don't have an eagle eye sight. So, there is literally no point to attend races in person and definitely better and convenient to watch it on my telly, or internet. I don't understand you, and probably will never do.

£59 for a grandstand seat at the Formula E finale and £47 for the entire weekend of British Superbikes at Cadwell Park will do me this year. Would absolutely have loved to go to Silverstone and I’m still yet to ever go to an F1 race but with the prices as they are it’s just not viable at all unfortunately.

It's obvious you didn't see the film. You spent all this time saying the sky is blue. Miles had to wait for the other cars to catch up. The lead car past him for the finish because he was ordered to wait for them to get the photo finish of 3 Fords at the line. He was ordered to slow down for the company & when he did, they recogized a slower driver as the winner.

These ridiculous prices are a result of F1s broken bussiness model. The price that F1 charges the circuits is criminal. It is at the point where unless you have oil money or massive government support it becomes impossible for circuits to be able to afford to hold a race without making ticket prices to expencive for the average person. Within the next 5 to 10 years you will seen most European races like Silverstone and Spa cease to exist. As contracts come up for renewal these circuits will be priced out and disappear. F1 1 is all about money now. The competition and fans are secondary . The ticket prices prove that they don't care about the fans and the troubles Andretti is having getting into F1 show that they are not interested in the sport itself growing with increased competition. I rarely watch the sport any more , the rules now make it near impossible for a team to catchup with development if they make a mistake with a new set of rules. It's 3 or more years before you can fix things at the next rule change. The actual lack of testing to bring the cost down is actually leading to domination by 1 team or another. It's helping to kill the sport. Give me the good old days of the 70s, 80s and 90s over the piss poor gimmick laced crap that they are trying to pass as entertainment today. If you want real racing go watch the WEC and sports car racing. You can watch it on UA-cam for free.

I don't see why the top drivers should have to pay more for their renewal. If you had an excelklent season why would they want to try and potentially push you out of the sport? If anything it sounds like it gives a weird incentive for smaller teams to try and game the system and not earn as many points as they actually deserve.

I'm more of a bike fan myself, I'm expecting MotoGP prices to start going up from next year now Liberty are involved. But I'm going World Superbikes next month at Donington. A adult ticket cost me £60.... Yes just £60 for the whole three days. Ok at early bird prices but still the best value for money by a country mile for a world championship series that comes to the UK. That gets you full access around the paddock etc. you don't get that with MotoGP or F1.

Sports and entertainment have become a huge corporate cash cow over the past 25 years. this is the same scenario as a dad who wants to take his kids to an NHL, NBA game or a concert. It seems fair to have super expensive tickets in the posh sections for folks who can afford it, or just get off on "being there". at the same time there really should still be "cheap seats" for the average family. I say the promoters should continue to raise prices for certain sections, so they can afford to sell reasonably priced tickets to the average punter.

F1 is doing a mid 90s Nascar now. It's drawn in casual plastic flash fans, and they are changing the experience to match. Again the American influence are deeply concerning. Problem is 3/4 years these folks will be away again and fans will be left struggling to enjoy any of it. F1 will be left with even fewer fans who can enjoy the sport, the price of F1 merch never mind attending a race is beyond me now. Greed and mindset is killing the sport and the fans williness to look past these issues

  • @chrispeck1325
    @chrispeck1325 13 годин тому

Being from America, I obviously won't be able to get to Silverstone, probably ever. One of my biggest dreams is to some day make it to Good Wood, any of them. That said, we're kind of having the same thing happening here, not only with F1, I might be able to afford to go to COTA, but living in Georgia, Texas is quite a haul and we don't get anywhere near as much PTO as the same class of European person gets, so trying to balance time with the family and dream trips, that none of my family are interested in, well you know what's going to win. Anyway I do enjoy going to my local dirt tracks and watching the late models and sprint cars turn left. I've also competed in some of the lower classes, so again, they're a dream trip, that's more accessible. The problem is, much like you are describing, the price gouging is off the chain. Last year I took my wife to see the "Dirt Track World Championship" at Eldora speedway. It was the last race of the Lucas Oil Late Model series and it decided the championship, even though RTJ had led the series all year. It was a little under 1000mi from my house. I rented an RV, paid for a camping spot, paid for gas and food up and back, food for the 4 days we were there and then I had to pay for the tickets to the event. Because it was Eldora, there was already a premium on the tickets, add in that it was Lucas and the last and deciding race of the year and I paid over $500 for 2 tickets for 3 days of racing. All totaled I was in for over $2k. I know that might not be a lot when you compare it to other series, but a normal ticket costs between $20-40/night of racing, depending on if you want to get into the pits or not. The worst part was that it rained the entire time and we only got to see 1/4 of one day of racing. On the night the final was supposed to happen, they ran 2 heat races and cancelled the event. When I went to look for a person to ask about rain tickets or a refund, every series official had long since left. There was no one to talk to about anything. I did find one guy wearing a Lucas vest and he told me, in so few words, to go screw myself. We had to leave that night, due to work on Monday and an almost 1000mi drive home. They ended up running "all" of the races (it was VERY condensed) on the following day, our travel day, to empty grandstands. I watched the event on Monday and they only showed the seating areas once because it was so empty. I got an email from Lucas later that week stating that because they ran the race Sunday, they considered it done and I would only get a voucher for Thursday's racing. So basically a big screw you. I really don't understand how these promoters think that hard working people, who are the ones that fill out most of the crowds at any series are going to keep paying these high prices, get screwed over if things go wrong (which I know they can't control the rain, but they can control how they respond to unforseen events) and keep coming back. I for one will never go back to that track and have a hard time wanting to go back to watch the series. It all just puts a foul taste in your mouth.

I did some costing the other year and it was cheaper to fly to Barcelona, Milan or Budapest for a F1 race than it was to drive to Silverstone. Better weather too.

I paid a similar amount of money for a 5 day holiday in Prague and a ticket to a Rammstein concert. The concert ticket was about £80, and if you see the scale of the stage etc. it is good value. Over £500 for a weekend is crazy but then F1 is run by a price gouging company that is dead set on squeezing every last penny out of customers.
